Stacy serves up a milestone for the Learning Agreement Pilot

Stacy Dickson

Since its launch in April 2006 the Learning Agreement Pilot has helped 2000 sixteen and seventeen year olds in Lancashire.

Stacy Dickson, from Pennine Road, Bacup was the 2000th young person to join the pilot.  After leaving school with 10 GCSEs, Stacy decided that she wanted to get straight into employment and start her experience in the world of work.

While working as a waitress at her local pub she decided that she wanted to move forward within the hospitality industry.  After being contacted by the Learning Agreement Pilot team, Stacy’s attention was drawn to some of the training options available to her on the scheme and she subsequently signed up to complete the Level 1 certificate in Technical Training.

Now due to start her Level 2 NVQ in Customer Service, Stacy believes training while working is a great way to learn, “I have really enjoyed the hands-on approach, teamed with the support of someone being there and guiding me along the way.  I feel have progressed really well.”

Stacy adds, “The scheme has given me far more confidence around customers and taken me a step closer to my dream of one day owning a pub of my own.”

Lian Campbell, Learning Agreement Personal Adviser concludes, “I’m really happy that Stacy was the 2000th sign up. She has already started and completed work set on her Customer Service Technical Certificate in a few weeks and she is hoping to move forward onto an Apprenticeship. It’s great news!!”
